This double issue (April/May) reflects on the topic of
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), commended by
their role as apostles of evangelization in the foreign
countries where they work. They practice and share
their faith fervently wherever they are. An interview
with the chaplain of the Filipino community in Jordan,
Fr. Gerald Metal, highlights the contribution Filipino
migrants render to Catholicism in a Muslim majority
country. However, Filipino migration also has its social
costs on families and entire communities back home.
The benefits have to outdo the negative aspects so
that migration may have an overall positive impact on
the individuals, country and society.
