Pride.

It’s the words on everybody’s minds and lips, more so now than ever. While the world has peddled its buzz far and wide, do we really know what pride is? This month, we don’t just crack open the dictionary and leaf through. Instead, we thought of you; we talked to you, hopefully figuring out what it is to so many different people and their circumstances.

Equality.
Arguably considered a crowned jewel that decorates the rich and storied culture of the Philippines and pageantry today, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray fronts the Pinoy Pride issue as a real life silver lining. Proudly waving the colors of the country as a Filipina, Catriona takes us through her epic moments and adventures in New York City and all over the world, reminding us why being in the moment is a luxury we should all be more mindful of.
Meanwhile, we also have RuPaul’s Drag Race (double) all-star, Manila Luzon on the cover as well. Headlining a pride that many fights for, identify with, and live as, the world-famous drag personality who traces her roots in the Philippines teaches us, among many other things, that in light of a grim and often unflinching world, no one can ever take away your truth and joy.

Freedom.

Pride comes in many permutations, all of which runs its course in the June issue. From a beautiful story of discovery and transition to the inspiring global Pinoys that raise the flag heroically in their corner of the globe, the point of this all becomes clear: we are here to herald, champion, and persist the liberties every human being deserves. And no label, preference, stereotype, and point-of-view will steer us from the goal that one day, the world lives a life of no resistance.
