Contrary to popular belief, the book of fairy tales does not stop beyond the threshold of childhood. In fact, the beckoning of a once-upon-a-time and far-off daydreaming not only persist, they thrive and get bigger and bolder as time goes by. Sure, there are proverbial dragons to slay, but in the end, the true heroes or dare we say, heroines, shine brighter and stronger because come on, do we expect anything less?

This month, we crack open the chapters of fantasy and live out personal and collective dreams in the pages of the year’s anniversary offering. And just like every great narrative, this story needed a wide-eyed and impressionable lead to anchor the fairy tale down. Meet Maymay Entrata, our modern-day princess who unlike the archetype of our childhood, is every inch real, charming, expressive and most importantly, with a story to tell. Living out a royal fantasy in the snowy expanse of Germany (with a prince charming in Edward Barber, of course), the most sparkling next big thing holds her own as if telling us that her moment has truly come.

From a winter (and sometimes rainy) wonderland, we take our imaginations and run into the wildest of wilds. From modern romantic bohemia in the savannah, an evocative juxtaposition of romance in black and white, a brilliant ode to the mother of makeup and a sprinkling of gustatory delights that are every inch indulgent (hey, we deserve a bite or two every now and then), we take your fantasies and just like your fairy godmother, we wave a wand and make them come true.

If there is anything we learned from the fairy tales of youth it is that with enough courage, dreams and a lot of heart, nothing is impossible. In fact, it is in believing in the fairy tale that accords us with a chance to live out our very own happy ending—whatever they may be.
