The CPA, formed in 1996, is an independent, non-partisan organization primarily focused on governance and conflict resolution and is thus committed to programs of research and advocacy through which public policy is critiqued, alternatives identified and disseminated. Somawansa Amarasinghe, the leader of the JVP gives his candid views about current government policy, the bureaucracy and what the JVP expects to be done in the field of post-tsunami resurgence of the people and the country.
The mission of the Tamils Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO), an effective Non-Government Organization is to provide much needed relief, rehabilitation and development for the people of the northeast of Sri Lanka. Chandra Para-rajasingham has been working as the Program Director of the TRO for the past two years. He emphasises that the support received by different people including citizens from the south, the Tamil diaspora and the international community is most encouraging.
Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) Karunaratne Jayasuriya discusses the impact of the natural disaster and plans of rebuilding with input from all concerned, the need for a transparent approach in disbursing and handling aid, and fundamentally the hope for a fresh and disciplined political culture.
