The global automotive industry has been on a roll. Market analysts now predict better times for the industry—a trend reflected by Aurangabad-based Varroc Group, which has registered almost 20 per cent YoY growth to post sales of Rs 10,300 crore in FY 16-17. We have featured the head of the automotive component giant, Tarang Jain, on our cover.
Marwaris are known for their uncanny ability to turn any business into a huge success. A case in point is millionaire Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, a college dropout, who has built India’s largest online network of branded hotels that offers 70,000 rooms in 200 cities to travellers. In yet another example, Kamlesh Gupta of the WestCoast Group has revolutionised India’s frozen seafood food industry—an unusual field for a strict vegetarian.
Building businesses may be relatively easy for Marwaris, but keeping them well-oiled and running calls for compliance with the legal framework that govern them. Here too Marwaris have not lagged behind. In out tribute section, we have featured the century-old Kolkata-based iconic law firm, Khaitan & Co.
In an inspiring article, we bring you industrialist Harsh Goenka’s devotion to art and his efforts to change this space by setting up art installations across Mumbai that reflect the city and its spirit, through his RPG Art Foundation.
India India’s wildlife preservation efforts have been successful and exemplary. Read about Rajasthan’s efforts to now protect the leopard by becoming the first state in India to launch a project that aims to protect the spotted cat.
On April 12, the Indian media industry lost Ramesh Chandra Agarwal, the man behind making the Dainik Bhaskar Group (DB Corp) what it is today. In an obituary, we have honoured the late media baron.
With all this and more, we bring you another stimulating issue of Marwar.

MARWAR India Description:

Marwar is a community-based magazine with an emphasis on profiling the best and the brightest in the Marwari community. The magazine reaches the elite in India and abroad who want to read and discover the wonders of all things connected with the community. Thus, the subjects featured have to have the flavour of Marwar and Rajasthan—its culture, lifestyle and traditions. We highlight arts, crafts, music, dance and theatre as well as fashion and food that are connected to the region apart from immensely successful businessmen and businesswomen. In the past, luminaries like Laxmi Mittal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Indu Jain, Sanjiv Goenka and Rajashree Birla, to name a few, have graced our cover.
