The real estate industry is in the doldrums. There has been a massive slump in demand while delays in completion of projects and inflated prices mean there’s no uptick in sight. No one knows when the tide will turn. Developers are doing their best to woo buyers with add-ons and by joining hands with brands. Brands, in fact, make up more than 50 percent of total residential sales in India. Aggressive advertising is another strategy being adopted by developers. But will this result in more sales? We’ll have to wait and watch. There's this and more as part of our real estate special. Also in this issue is a rare, unpublished interview with acclaimed filmmaker Satyajit Ray, taken at his Kolkata home 30 years ago.
