Copy: Homegrown start-ups Ola and Ather have played a significant role in kickstarting the electric two-wheeler revolution in the country. Within a remarkably short span of three to five years, Ola has emerged as the largest electric two-wheeler retailer in the country, while Ather has carved a niche for itself as a reliable and high-performing scooter brand.
However, so far, both companies have been backed by equity investment and have relied on government subsidies to establish themselves in India’s fledgling EV market. It is also important to note that both these start-ups are currently operating at a loss for every vehicle sold.
