Durga Puja celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga over the demon king Mahishasura. But it is not just limited to that by the Bengalis. Mixing of culture, witnessing authentic Bengali taste and heritage is all about the yearlong wait for the Bengalis.
The scattered clouds, the katzkins, the smell of shiuli, the chant of Birendra Krishna Bhadra with loads of sweets and smell of dhuno and dhunuchi naach is all for the Bengalis to that gives relief to the yearlong hard work and push for the next year.
But festivity calls for both traditional and modern outfits to look the best and so nobody gets unnoticed. Some call for maintaining the basic tradition while others blend it with modernity and for some it is the cool modern look and even prefers combo on the five days of festivities.
The edition will give a blend of the ‘Bangaliana’ that everyone looks forward to during the Durga Puja also known as the ‘homecoming of the daughter Uma’.
‘Gourbanga’ as the name was earlier when Bengal was undivided. Later even it became West Bengal and East Bengal (Bangladesh) but when it comes to puja and showing of traditions none the part of Bengal stays behind but amalgamates together. With minimal cultural differences in tradition the two Bengal also get united during the immersion at Taki, the border of the two fragments of Bengal.
