Yet another terrorist attack on Indian Army Base and retaliatory surgical strikes by India have renewed the demand of conclusive action from the Indian Government in form of a strict anti-terror law. No one can deny the fall of Taliban after 9/11’s revenge by US and at the same time, the rise of new faction ISIS cannot be denied. The history of humanity is proof enough that destroying a particular terror group cannot solve the problem of external aggression in the form of terrorist attacks. What is required is strict and efficient anti-terror laws on the lines of countries like United States of America, China and Russia, which have protected these nations from the wrath of terror attacks, at least in the recent history. India has had its own share of anti-terror laws, which have unfortunately failed to stand the test of time and have been repealed due to their rampant misuse. The illogical mix of terror, religion and politics have often led to the laws being interpreted as communal, oppressive and against the principles of Natural Justice and Human Rights. Then what law would be sufficient and solve the crisis at hand? Let us take an insight of history of terror laws in India and future of it in the cover story by Albuquerque couple: Dr Olav and Deborah.
