The September issue of INSITE, "Living Heritage of Ahmedabad: Unesco World Heritage City" celebrates the myriad aspects of the heritage of Ahmedabad. The Insite story by Padamshree B.V. Doshi and Ar. Neelkanth Chhaya discusses heritage being much more than mere tangible sites and properties. The heritage Haveli section features Mangaldas ni Haveli, Hutheesing ni Wadi, French Haveli, Jethabhai ni Haveli, looking closely how the traditions have sustained over the years. Projects like Aagashye, Diwan's Bungalow and Project Cafe are featured as examples of adaptive reuse of heritage havelis. Reflecting on Ahmedabad’s journey and planning the roadmap ahead, Amit Ambalal, Debashish Nayak, Snehal Shah, Subrata Bhowmick and Yatin Pandya, talk about the pride, challenges, and responsibilities that come along with the heritage city status. The issue also features a research study by Mihir Vakharia on the thermal performance of courtyards. The last section features an interaction with Mrs. Jayshree Lalbhai Co-founder of the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, to understand the philosophy behind their patronage as well as the inspiration behind establishing the museum.
