The March To Freedom
A Nation Awakes Description:
When Lord Curzon partitioned Bengal with the intention of weakening the people, it only served to unite them and strengthen their desire for freedom. The weapon they chose was 'Swadeshi' and the blow was aimed at European business interests. The movement spread and the cry 'Vande Mataram' resounded throughout the land. The movement caused a split in the National Congress. The moderates, who believed in continuing with petitions to the government parted ways with the extremists who believed in agitating for their rights. The period saw a spurt in revolutionary activities. Despite all differences the people continued the struggle till the partition of Bengal was annulled.
