Hello and welcome to the May digital edition of Truck & Driver. You may note that the content in this issue differs a lot from what we previewed in April’s Next Month page, but don’t worry all those features will be with you soon. We’re in the process of some behind the scenes re-organisation with some exciting special editions coming your way later in 2022!

You won’t be disappointed with the great mix of truck features here; our Editor’s Choice is one of the highest spec livestock trucks in Ireland, Twomey’s terrific Volvo FH16 750 Tridem. We meet JAD Trans Scotland who have rapidly expanded in two years and run an impressive fleet including a rare manual Daf XF 530 and several MAN TGX 510s.

Speaking of Dafs, Bob Beech has an in-depth working report on the all-new Daf XG+, and we’ve got a whopping 9.5 page feature on a Dutch Cummins powered 95.500. Bob has also been to Italy to check out Iveco’s new tipper range, and we visit the Reid brothers and their impressive Iveco racing trucks with the 2022 British Truck Racing Championship about to get underway.

Peter Davies returns with his usual excellent look back over 70 years of British transport history as we learn more about trucks and operators no longer with us. Paul O’Callaghan takes us on a European long haul in a Scania 660S in Team T&D, while Editor Dougie tells the story of a proposed truckstop, a hard working driver, some entitled social media warriors, and the fleet of foot, but certainly not fleet spec, Scania R540.
