Why hello Tour de France 2025, so glad you could join us for issue 165 of Cyclist… because what a show we have for you!
We’ve got a Big Ride up one of France’s highest, most arresting peaks, the Col d’Izoard, a full kilometre of vertical gain all the way up to 2,363m. Breathtaking. We look back at the men who made the Grand Tours, from Henri Desgrange to Jacques Goddet and beyond; we sit down with Jasper Philipsen, the Belgian sprint ace hoping to take home the green jersey again in Paris; and we shine a spotlight one of cycling’s greatest teams, Faema, for whom Eddy Merckx won two of his five Tours, plus quite a lot more.
However, though the Giro d’Italia is in our rearview mirror, Italy is not forgotten. We’ve visited the shadow of the Stelvio to ride the gravel of Valtellina; we take a spin up the Pordoi; and we dig deep into Campagnolo’s newest gruppo, Super Record 13.
All this plus tests of the new Cannondale SuperX, Ribble Ultra Race and Cinelli King Zydeco 2, new gear from Zipp, Enve, Sportful and more, and a Q&A with cricket legend Ian Botham. Don’t worry, we haven’t lost our minds, we still love cycling, and so does Beefy.
