I dette nummeret
Afrocapitalism, Afropreneur, Afroskep- tical... To name concepts from the Afro prefix is a trend on the roll. Although some of these neologisms look like pouring new wine into old bottles , others deserve that we linger there, following the example of the « Afropolitan « term.
Popularized by the historian Achille Mbembé among others, to be afropolitan exceeds the marketing conception to embody a whole new way of conceiving Africa. Paradoxically, the black continent was certainly cosmopolitan way before the crowd notices it. From consuming South American soap operas to secondhand clothes imported from Europe, the african culture as a whole
has been globalized for a very long time. Moreover, its identity is often questioned, not later than recently at the «Apéro Fashiz» event, one of the cocktail parties organized this summer by your favorite magazine to meet YOU, dear readers.
What would thus differentiate Afropolitans of today from yesterday’s? Not much, if it is not an important awareness: local and inter- national do not necessarily oppose. Dealing with both is even recommended and suiting the world’s current context.
For this September issue, we are revealing a new formula celebrating more than ever our values, with a new graphic display, new sections, and more pages dedicated to Culture and Lifestyle. What are the hotspots, the major events to attend, the artists to know about? All these questions and more still have their answers in this issue. Of course, Fashion and Beauty are not forgotten, with pieces of advice or good tips adapted to this fall period.
Here you have it, FASHIZBLACK being the ultimate Afropolitan Guide is our purpose, and we hope that you will contribute to it!
