Architecture is a wonderful subject. It combines both design and engineering; provides a meeting point for beauty and function. It serves a practical purpose - the building of private spaces - our homes and public spaces - museums, centers, parks and schools. And it provides the artists amongst us with a medium for expressing their creativity with the use of bricks and cement, glass and steel. It gives a platform for our scientists and researchers to further expand the boundaries with the creation of new materials - stronger, lighter, more flexible and more durable to the elements of nature. And it allows the dreamers in our midst with a blank canvas to create pure magic and raise structures that survive generations and bear testimony to the indomitable human spirit.
