In this issue, Dubai based firm Desert Group discusses the challenges the landscape industry faces in the GCC and the future ahead for it while also offering their expert opinion on the areas international standards. See page 24 for more. Parks and communal garden areas in residential neighbourhoods are a prominent theme in this issue – not only are they a sanctuary for relaxation, socialising, child’s-play and community hub but many act as the central green space for citizens, such as the Jaanila Country Park in Russia – we take a look at the project on page 40, led by KCAP Architects & Planners. Over on page 32, we go behind the designs for new playground areas at Alexandria Sporting Club in Egypt.
