Avocados

While sometimes thought of as a vegetable, avocado is actually a fruit—and it’s low in sugar, which makes it good for those with diabetes or anyone watching their blood sugar. “With approximately 1 gram of sugar each, avocados are packed with healthy fats and are rich in fiber and vitamins E, C and B6,” says Chris Mohr, Ph.D., R.D. He explains that healthy fats in avocados help the body absorb other important fat-soluble vitamins, which makes these gems a great addition to your diet.
