Looking for a fun way to triple your daily step count, connect with friends, reduce stress and improve your mood? Try a walking book club! This exercise trend is picking up momentum, thanks to its multitude of feel-great benefits. Here, learn more about the trend and how you can participate
Strolling through a scenic park, breathing in fresh air, discussing a recent read with friends...walking book clubs offer up the perfect blend of productivity, health and relaxation. So it's no surprise these mobile book groups are skyrocketing in popularity right now. In fact, there are hundreds of walking book clubs popping up daily in communities all over the world, created by libraries, social media groups and women like you!
“It's increasingly hard in our tech-riddled society to make time to connect with things that aren't our phones—and a walking book club is the chance to do exactly this,” says U.K.-based writer Emily Rhodes, founder of Emily's Walking Book Club (you can find her on Instagram @EmilyRhodesWriter). “These book clubs offer an incentive to set aside reading time, walk more and get in touch with nature,” she says. “Plus, it's a wonderful chance to connect with other people and make new friends side-by-side and face-to-face, rather than on a screen. Many people tell me how the book club helped them form lasting friendships and feel less isolated.”
