Among the handful of stars who managed to stay relevant in their golden years and are still alive doing petty roles on the silver screen, even at the age of 93, is the doyen Kamini Kausal.
Kamini aimed to become a CineArtist, and as a beginning, she took to stage acting in Delhi during her college days from 1942 to 1945. Before migrating to Delhi, she worked as a child radio artist with the nickname "Uma" in Lahore. She recollects that important event: "We were to perform for the war relief fund in college. Ashok Kumar and Leela Chitnis were the chief guests. After the show, we went to meet him. I thought of having some fun. As he stood talking to the students, I pulled his hair from behind."
