This mum and daughter have a special lunch date tradition

Cassandra Schrader has always been terrified of needles. “I didn’t have any drugs when I had my kids because of my fear. I’m not sure what I was scared of, it was irrational,” Cassandra, 56, from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, tells Woman’s Day.

As a result, Cassandra had never donated blood, unlike her 81-year-old mum Alice, who’s been a regular blood donor throughout her life and her daughter Taylah, 29, who has been donating for years.

“Nan took me to a mobile blood donation unit when I was about eight,” Taylah says.

“She explained how it saves people’s lives and I thought she was a superhero from then on,” she adds.
