Can you give us an elevator pitch for The Midnight Estate?

A woman decides to restore the rambling mansion she called home for most of her childhood. As she's moving in, she finds copies of a book called The Midnight Estate. She dives into that story and quickly begins to wonder if the parallels between the book and her own life might hint at a deeper mystery in her family history.

What inspired the story?

I had a few ideas in mind at first... an obsessive, quirky author... a book-within-the-book... an abandoned heritage mansion in Forbes where I grew up... the impact experiences of family violence can have. These things all came together in this story. The family violence themes were especially heartbreaking to research and write. I'll be donating a portion of my royalties from the sales of this book to Orange-based domestic violence advocacy charity, Birds in the Bush.
