Your secret health saviour might be as simple as putting the kettle on

- FAYE M SMITH

It can feel like a 'hug in a mug' and be as comforting as chatting to an old friend, so it's no wonder Brits are renowned for putting on the kettle every day - let alone during a crisis.

For most, it starts at around 7am for the first cup, with 40% of us insisting on using a specific mug because it makes our tea 'taste its best'*. 'It's clear that tea remains a very important part of our lives,' says etiquette consultant Jo Bryant, 'with the average person in the UK drinking a staggering 1,460 cups a year.'

The good news? This 'addiction' of ours is great for body and mind. 'There are so many teas that can boost wellbeing,' says Dr Donald Grant from theindependentpharmacy.co.uk. 'From herbal ones that prioritise sleep to an effective energy source, such as mate, it's easy to see why these have remained popular go-to drinks for centuries.'
