When it comes to parenting, Megan believes that three is the magic number

Living with your ex-husband might sound like most people's worst nightmare, but for Megan, it made perfect sense. When she married Tyler in January 2020 and went on to have their daughter Ryann she really believed they would be together forever. But, in just a few years, everything changed. By September 2023, the couple had divorced and Megan met her new partner Michael soon after. In September 2024, Megan and Michael had a son, Juniper, but they struggled with finances and the logistics of Ryann seeing her dad Tyler regularly.

So Michael came up with a controversial idea - they should all live together. He reasoned it would save them money and Ryann would have her mum and dad living under the same roof. At first, everyone was against the idea, but when things didn't improve financially, Megan and her ex-husband Tyler agreed to give it a go.

'Finances just weren't getting better, and it was really impacting our daughter,' explains Megan. The arrangement meant that not only was there an extra adult to pay the bills, but there were also three parents around to care for the kids.

Megan, a stay-at-home mum, says, 'When Tyler wakes up he'll come in and take over with Ryann, and when Michael gets home from work he helps out with Juniper and Ryann.' The benefits of them all living together soon became clear because shortly after Tyler moved in, Megan noticed that Ryann, then two, was calmer and more content. 'She's obviously happier having both her parents around all the time,' says Megan.
