Holly and Phil's NEW FALL-OUT
WOMAN - UK
|January 27, 2025
As Holly's star continues to rise, Phil is feeling jealous and bitter, according to TV expert Sarah Robertson
-
A couple of years ago, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were about as close as two friends can get. They worked together daily, their families holidayed with one another, and they stuck by each other through thick and thin.
When Phillip came out as gay live on air in 2020, Holly said, ‘I’ve never been more proud of my friend than I am today. Whatever happens in the future, I’ll be sat by your side... I’ll be by your side forever and ever.’
Sadly, that statement wasn’t true as when Phillip’s affair with a younger male colleague came to light in 2023, their friendship swiftly ended and Holly said after his exit from This Morning she felt ‘worried, shaken, troubled, let down and full of questions’. Holly later quit the show herself in October 2023 after she was made aware of a kidnap plot. But while ITV cut all ties with Phil, they clearly still value Holly, who hosts You Bet! and Dancing on Ice with pal Stephen Mulhern. They’ve now reportedly offered her £1 million to host three new shows. And TV expert Sarah Robertson tells Woman that ‘bitter’ Phil will be annoyed that Holly’s star is continuing to rise while his attempt at a comeback didn’t go to plan.
She says, ‘I can’t see a way back for their friendship; this fall-out has become bitter and toxic. I am told that Phil still feels hurt at how everything was handled. He felt let down by those colleagues who he became friends with, who he trusted and worked with for a long time, particularly Holly.
