WHAT I'VE LEARNT ABOUT...taking time out

I have a tradition. It's called "the disappear day" - and it's exactly what it sounds like. It gives me great pleasure to share with you a mindset shift that is easy to do and, quite frankly, life changing.

But first, I need to give full credit to Jill, a regular listener of my radio show who thought I'd like to know about her recent discovery. And she sure was right.

You see, one day, Jill called her workplace and excused herself for the day.

She didn't tell anyone. Not her family, not friends. No one. Suddenly free from the obligations of work, she proceeded to... disappear. She had a wander around a shopping centre. She tried on rings and had a massage (just walked in! No planning required. Can you imagine?). She caught a film and ate a choc top on her own. Then she pulled into her driveway at home again to fulfil her parental duties at the same time she would have had she been at work. Her family was none the wiser and she was full of cheeky pep again.

With a few popcorn kernels in her bra.

This immediately struck me as something I could absolutely get around.
