The view from the platform was sensational. Standing on the third highest point on Auckland’s Waiheke Island, it felt like you could see forever. Now all I had to do was step off the platform and enjoy the ride.

I whimpered inside. Except it was audible to those around me. “For heaven’s sake,” I told myself firmly as my fellow zipliners looked at me pityingly. “You knew what you were signing up for.”

When Kim, who was organising the charity lunch to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, asked if I'd like to join her on the zipline at Man O’ War the day before the event, I was in. When I was emceeing the event last year, the zipline that starts high up within a kauri forest and finishes at Man O’ War’s restaurant was just about completed and it looked awesome.
