Have an old acne spot or a brow-wax burn that’s overstayed its welcome? Dermatologist Hannah Kopelman, M.D., recommends applying a silicone-based treatment. “It creates a breathable, protective barrier that locks in moisture, softening scar tissue and gradually flattening and fading the scar.” An OTC option she recommends is Mederma Advanced Scar Gel (Amazon.com). Apply a thin layer of gel to scars twice daily for several weeks—or longer for deeper scars.
