Alright, it doesn't look like much even when you keep the price uppermost in your mind. It's an unassuming little box, and the plastic body doesn't feel anything special. But functionality is a different story: on its rear panel are crammed a USB-C socket for power, an Ethernet socket, digital optical in and out, a digital coaxial output and stereo RCA in and out. It's so packed, in fact, that anything but the skinniest analogue plugs will struggle to fit.

Wireless stuff comes courtesy of Bluetooth 5.1 with SBC and AAC compatibility, and dual-band Wi-Fi. Chromecast and AirPlay 2 are built in, and the WiiM Home control app (which is an excellent interface) includes the 'Connect' versions of Spotify and Tidal plus Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora, Tuneln and more besides.

Don't like apps? The Pro Plus can also be controlled via the little remote control, which has a mic button for waking Alexa.
