Tork Motors addresses India's electric two-wheeler gap with affordable, and feature-rich motorcycles that includes automatic transmission, reverse gear, speed, range, fast charging, and connected features like overthe-air updates and smart navigation

- John Martin

Transformation of India's electric motorcycle industry

Tork Motors was founded due to the absence of a prominent Indian electric two-wheelers brand manufacturing motorcycles in India. With motorcycles comprising around 60% of India's two-wheeler market, we embarked on a mission in 2016-17 to build a class-leading motorcycle for the mass Indian market.

Tork Motors's focus was on ensuring consumer satisfaction through aspects like reliability, warranty, speed, and charging time. This endeavor involved creating a motor from scratch with a low center of gravity (Sandwich Type), a battery pack tailored to withstand diverse Indian riding conditions and we launched the product in 2022.

We had an insightful conversation with Kapil Shelke, Founder and CEO, Tork Motors, we delve into the world of Tork Motors and gain valuable insights into the dynamics of India's electric motorcycle market.

▾ Influence of Electric Vehicle Racing on Tork Motors' Development

The experience gained from electric racing competitions transformed our perspective. Unlike conventional vehicles where the engine takes center stage, electric racing emphasized the paramount importance of the battery. We learned that all other components, including motors, revolve around the battery. Additionally, the simplified design of Electric Vehicles allowed us to reimagine vehicle dynamics, frame design, and technology integration. This insight led us to design vehicles from the ground up, optimizing space for the best technologies, including the segment's largest battery pack and motor.
