When the Wi-Fi's down, who you gonna call?

Sometimes technology brings us the perfect solution to a real-world need. A solution that fits so well you wonder how we ever did without it. Allow me to explain.
In the run-up to Christmas, my partner and I attend a lot of food fairs at various locations, including a recent one at the wonderful Burghley House near Peterborough. As a specialist condiment, sauce and pickle maker from nearby Huntingdon, we love to give people a chance to taste our wares for themselves. The mantra is simple: spoons in mouths. If someone can taste your product, they are highly likely to buy, if the product is good enough. Fortunately, ours is (jandafood.com, thanks for asking).
In the past, it was simple: go to the bank and get enough notes and change to fill up a cash box. But times have moved on. Everyone now wants to pay by card, especially via their phone or watch. So there’s been an almost complete shift to online transactions, to the point where we don’t even carry cash any more.
