When I originally got into Baldur's Gate in high school, the first game was a dragon I never managed to slay. All those massive early game wilderness areas bored me to tears, impenetrable Advanced Dungeons & Dragons jargon wore down my spirit, and I was always worried that I was playing wrong or maybe committing to a character that'd fall apart when brought forward to Shadows of Amn.

Now I've got the opposite problem: I'm fresh off my third completion of Baldur's Gate in the past few years without ever having rolled credits on its sequel or Beamdog's 2016 interquel expansion Siege of Dragonspear. I've got high hopes for this latest run though: I love my character, I'm still feeling the magic, and I think I've got the juice to commit a significant portion of my free time this year to some Infinity Engine roleplaying.
