Precihole Machine Tools manufactures deep hole drilling and hole finishing solutions. Parag Kulkarni from Precihole Group is a global leader in deep-hole drilling and hole-finishing solutions. In this interview, he shares Precihole's manufacturing philosophy and the journey of innovation, automation, and precision engineering, as well as how they are expanding into various industries.

- Parag Kulkarni

How is Precihole integrating automation and Industry 4.0 in its manufacturing operations?

Precihole is integrating automation and Industry 4.0 by engineering machines that work seamlessly with leading industrial robots of Fanuc, Mitsubishi, ABB, Kuka, and Yaskawa. We offer single-machine automation where robots load and unload parts as well as multi-machine cell automation for uninterrupted, high-volume production. In the firearms sector, robotic pick-and-place systems automate the loading and unloading of gun barrels. At the same time, in automotive and hydraulics, robots handle part transfers on skiving and roller burnishing machines. Shaft production lines utilise conveyors or walking beams to automatically move parts between gun drilling stations. In the oil and gas industry, gantry-style robotic systems equipped with AI and fuzzy logic are deployed to drill steel billets. We also design fully automated transfer lines, such as a 24-machine setup for hydraulic steering assemblies, to maximise throughput. All systems are IoT- and Industry 4.0-compliant, enabling smart diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and real-time data exchange. Many of these solutions support lights-out manufacturing, allowing 24/7 unattended operation.

What measures ensure bore accuracy, straightness, and surface finish in Precihole deep-hole machines?
