Gemini to power Siri

APPLE HAS CONFIRMED that Google Gemini will power the next-generation version of Siri, which is expected to launch in the first half of this year, and other future Apple Intelligence features for an unspecified period to come.

Commentators welcomed the news because Google's large language model (LLM) is significantly larger than Apple's own in-house effort. This should make Siri more capable and deliver delayed personalization features such as better understanding of the user's context, on-screen awareness, and deeper control of apps.
