Make room for the content you actually want

Free up space on your iPhone

IF YOU HAVE an iPhone that's almost bursting at the seams, you can be faced with some tricky decisions. In making room for all those videos and games you love to download (or photos and movies you shoot), you may end up removing content that you'd otherwise prefer to keep. But freeing up space on your device doesn't always need to be sacrificial.

It's possible to retain most, if not all, of the apps and data you want and need, and still ensure your iPhone has plenty of space for more. The trick is to delete only when necessary, offload unused apps and content using the tools builtin to iOS, and consider using “cleaner” apps, such as Cleanup, which you can find on the App Store.

Combined, you will still be able to access everything you require while also, thanks to some careful pruning, find things more quickly and easily. What's more, the whole process needn't take up lots of valuable time either. Let's check it out.

Free up space by removing apps you rarely – if ever – use. To see the last time you used an app, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, and above the list of apps, select Last Used Date. Scroll and tap Show All.
