On October 14, 2025, Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10, essentially forcing users to switch to Windows 11.

While Windows 10 has been around for a decade, it was definitely more popular than its predecessor, Windows 8, which prioritized tablets and touchscreens in its design. Windows 7 usage outpaced Windows 8 usage until Windows 10 came out. This was primarily due to desktop users having to rely on user reports and guides just to use Windows 8. I had to make a clean install of Windows 7 for a college friend about 8 years ago, if you want to know how unpopular it was. But this was far from Microsoft's first foray into the tablet scene, which led me to the Microsoft Tablet PC. Would it be a leap into the future, or just another failed experiment for the tech behemoth?
