Dr Sangeeta Chhabra, Co-Founder & Executive Director, AceCloud, talks about her work and women's contribution to the segment
How can increased participation of women in Cloud and AI leadership roles shape India's digital future?
Women bring unique perspectives that enhance AI fairness, bias reduction and user-centric innovation. Their leadership ensures cloud and AI technologies address real-world challenges, aligning with ethical and sustainable goals. Further, with diverse teams, companies benefit significantly, as diversity improves decision-making, drives profitability, and enhances risk management. Studies show inclusive leadership fosters ethical AI, reducing biased algorithms that impact financial services, healthcare, and hiring.
What strategies can organisations adopt to create more inclusive opportunities for women in cloud computing and AI?
To create more inclusive opportunities for women in Cloud computing and AI, organisations should implement technology-driven strategies that focus on education, recruitment, workplace environment; and professional development. Hands-on workshops, coding boot camps and AI project-based learning programmes designed specifically for women can provide early exposure and encourage more women to pursue careers in these fields. Recruitment and retention efforts must be refined to minimise bias and ensure fair opportunities. AI-powered blind screening tools can also help anonymise candidate information, reducing unconscious bias in hiring. Additionally, diverse hiring panels should be a standard practice to promote balanced evaluations and demonstrate the organisation's commitment to inclusion.
