APPLE INTRODUCES $230 IPHONE POCKET IN COLLABORATION WITH ISSEY MIYAKE

The product is available through Apple's online store and select retail locations worldwide. Prices are set at $229.95 for the crossbody version and approximately $149.95 for a smaller short-strap model.

imageA FUNCTIONAL FABRIC DESIGN BASED ON A-POC PRINCIPLES

The iPhone Pocket is made using 3D-knitted textile construction based on Issey Miyake’s A-POC (“A Piece of Cloth”)approach. The technique produces a seamless, stretchable knit that forms a single continuous surface. Apple's product description highlights the use of a ribbed elastic weave that can expand to fit multiple smartphone sizes. The fabric offers limited transparency when stretched, allowing a faint view of the phone's outline or display without removing it from the pouch.

imageThe accessory is designed as a lightweight fabric carrier rather than a case. It contains no zippers, flaps, or rigid inserts. Instead, the phone is held in place through fabric tension and strap geometry. Apple specifies that the pouch accommodates “any make or model” of phone, with elasticity ensuring compatibility across current iPhone and comparable Android dimensions.
