Apple is quietly deepening its use of artificial intelligence in customer support, rolling out new features to the Al-powered assistant inside the Apple Support app.

APPLE EXPANDS AI SUPPORT ASSISTANT WITH DEVICE DIAGNOSTICS AND SMARTER HELP TOOLS

The update, first reported by MacRumors, signals a broader shift in how Apple plans to handle technical help at scale, using automation not only to answer questions, but to diagnose device issues and guide users toward faster resolutions.

The company has been testing the Al Support Assistant with a limited group of users, but recent updates show that the system is becoming more capable and central to Apple's long-term support strategy.

FROM Q&A BOT TO DIAGNOSTIC TOOL

Originally designed to answer basic questions about Apple devices and services, the Support Assistant has now gained the ability to run remote diagnostics. With user permission, the assistant can scan hardware and software health indicators, identify potential issues, and display performance details directly in the app.

This includes battery condition, storage health, connectivity problems, and system errors. Instead of navigating menus or contacting support, users can now receive immediate insights into what may be wrong with their device.

The assistant then suggests next steps, which may include software fixes, troubleshooting steps, or scheduling a service appointment at an Apple Store or authorized repair center.
