The force is with Pollock as the Lions come to life
The Rugby Paper
|June 29, 2025
HENRY Pollock was the centre of attention again as the back row showed what all the fuss was all about back home by delivering Down Under.
The 20-year-old served up the lot by making a try, getting involved in a ruck with lock Darcy Swain and being handed a yellow card as he attracted the action from the word go.
Pollock announced himself to the Australian public on 16 minutes when he made a try for Tomos Williams after a one-two with Josh van der Flier and a pop pass for the Welshman.
He took one of for the team just before half-time when he was sinbinned for infringing in a ruck just short of the Lions line but the tourists were on a warning from referee Ben O'Keeffe.
But even that didn’t set him back as his audacious chip in the second half heaped pressure on Western Force and ended with a score for Joe McCarthy out wide.
Pollock also threw a horrendous pass to James Lowe in the first half that put the wing in trouble behind his own goal line and missed a couple of tackles but he is in the middle of everything.
Boss Andy Farrell refused to go overboard about Pollock in the week but might have to board the hype train which is now going at full steam.
Farrell was fuming after that display, perhaps harshly, but whatever he has said to the squad this week has worked.
