MARTIN Webdale says the proof is in the pudding regarding the usefulness of his England Students side acting as a pathway up to the seniors.
Four of England's 2003 World Cup winning side - Lawrence Dallaglio, Will Greenwood, Josh Lewsey and Kyran Bracken - represented the student side in the past. The number of those who go on to reach full honours has decreased in recent years, but two former scholars Luke Northmore and Jack Kenningham, below, were named in England's latest squad earlier this week.
Loughborough University boss Webdale has taken over from Darren Fearn as Students head coach and took charge of his first game against France Universities yesterday.
