Breck living the dream, just like Reds

- Andrew Simpson

MOORE: WE'LL SLOT IN NICELY

BEFORE Lower Breck made their bow in the North West Counties League seven years ago, secretary Jim Davies described it as a dream becoming reality.

He wasn’t exaggerating; after all, the Liverpool club had only formed in 2010 to keep together a team of teenage boys after their league disbanded.

How then to sum up a historic promotion as play-off winners to the Northern Premier League for the first time?

"A pinch me moment,” boss Gary Moore told The NLP.

“It doesn’t seem real, and hasn’t sunk in properly yet.”

The Breck concluded a 46-game campaign with a staggering 106 points, only to be beaten to the North West Counties League Premier Division title by Bury on the final afternoon.

Undeterred, they then saw off West Didsbury & Chorlton and Padiham in successive home games to make sure they climb to Step 4 with the Shakers.
