BOSS FERG WANTS TO DO MOORE

LEVERSTOCK Green pulled off a remarkable 'great escape' in their maiden Step 4 campaign — but boss Fergus Moore is optimistic a repeat won't be necessary in the coming campaign.

The Hertfordshire side conjured seven victories from their last ten games — after winning just two of their first 30 matches — to avoid relegation by a single point in Southern Division One Central.

It made it two brilliant finishes to a campaign in a row for the unheralded village side from a suburb of Hemel Hempstead.

They had won the Spartan South Midlands Premier play-offs in 2023-24 to earn their place at Step 4.

However, Non-League stalwart Moore, who took the Green reins in 2021, would be happy if 'Little old Levy' don’t need final day heroics next time around.

“The relief was unbelievable at the end of last season and up there as one of the best achievements I’ve been part of,” the 53-year-old, who works as a BT field engineer, told The NLP. “We know what it means to the club.
