The seventh month of the year in the horse racing world has always been a wonderful time in the Flat racing season to me.

It means, the Newmarket July Festival, Glorious Goodwood (climbing Trundle Hill awash with sweat), the clash of the generations in the Eclipse and King George and many, many years ago very fast 2yos like Provideo, Horage, the rocket like Brondesbury and Spindrifter winning race after race after race and from the older generation Chaplins Club and that great mare Misty Halo.

There you are now I have given my age away and for those of you that don't recognise any of those great horses, then go do some research on YouTube et al! So hopefully some great times ahead of us this summer.

It also signals the time of the season when I reassess my punting battle plans, both ante-post and day of race and update my little black book of horses to follow; short, medium and long term. So here are three horses that I feel are worth following over the coming months.
