Italian wins first race for UAE Team ADQ at their home race

UAE Team ADQ gambled big in the off-season, signing Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini. The 33-year-old serial winner is vastly more experienced and successful than anyone else on the squad, and brings with her the promise of success along with rising expectations.

Those expectations were immediately met in the Middle East last week as the Italian took the overall win at the UAE Tour Women, thanks to a strong ride in the crosswinds followed by a stage victory atop the Jebel Hafeet climb.
