LONGER ROPES FOR FAVORITES: AN UNFAIR TREND A glaring issue with the current selection committee is the tendency to provide prolonged opportunities to select players, often at the expense of others who are more deserving. Players like Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill have consistently been given longer ropes despite inconsistencies while emerging talents have been sidelined. For instance, although a promising player, Gill has struggled in critical games yet remains an undroppable figure in the squad. This approach disregards the concept of meritocracy, undermining the confidence of players who perform well in domestic and international games but are ignored.
