Meet the doctor who loves writing funny books.

Adam Kay

Adam Kay is one of the UK's bestselling children's authors.

His books, including Dexter Procter the 10-Year-Old Doctor, Kay's Anatomy and Amy Gets Eaten reveal lots of amazing facts about the human body and how it works. His latest book, Simon Gets Sneezed, is brimming with fascinating details about how snot protects the human body.

Kay sat down with The Week Junior Science+Nature to tell us some of his favourite facts. "Every day, your lungs produce enough mucus to fill three cans of baked beans," he says, but he didn't stop there. "The amount of skin you shed in your lifetime could fill a wheelbarrow," he said, and "if you unfolded your brain, it would be the size of your pillow." Kay knows all these mind-blowing body facts because he used to be a doctor.
