Earth-sized planets found orbiting double stars

Two new worlds force a rethink of planet formation in extreme systems

For the first time, a study has revealed Earth-sized planets orbiting each of the stars in a binary system. An international team found the worlds around a stellar pair called TOI-2267: two small, cool red dwarf stars gravitationally bound extremely close together. The exoplanet find isn’t uncommon, but finding two warm, Earth-sized planets - and even potentially a third - transiting in front of both individual stars of a binary is unprecedented.
