Zuhal's an A-level star four years after fleeing Taliban

From Afghanistan to A-levels - that is the extraordinary journey that Leeds student Zuhal Akhundzada has gone on over the past four years.

Zuhal and her family, who were especially at risk due to her father's work for the British Army, fled to the UK in 2021 after the Taliban seized power.

For the 20-year-old, who is a step closer to her dream of a career in medicine after collecting her A-level results today, that represented a massive challenge, especially when it came to education.

It was a challenge she threw herself into, signing up with Leeds Sixth Form College to study for the qualifications she needed.
