Ready, steady, go: Race Across the World is as thrilling as ever
Yorkshire Evening Post

If I could go on any TV show, I would go on Race Across the World. The travel show with a competitive edge is one of the most fun shows to take part in and I'm envious of everyone who has ever done it.

In each series, five pairs compete to be the first to reach a set destination. Flying is off limits, as is using your phone to Google the shortest route. All you can rely on is the money in your belt and the kindness of strangers.
This year's Race Across the World map, focused on China, Nepal and India, has been smaller compared with previous series.
However, the scaled-down nature means that these countries are explored in far greater depth.
For example, by having a few episodes focused solely on India, I've learned about the Golden Temple, one of the holiest sites in Sikhism, and the Thar Desert, one of the largest in the world.
Although of course the show is about being as fast as possible, I'm enjoying this gentler pace where more time is spent in fewer countries. It seems that slow and steady does indeed sometimes win the race.
And what is great about Race Across the World is that it shows you that there is more to travel than just seeing tourist attractions.
