Not all superheroes wear capes... some of them also wear hard hats!

A new social enterprise is aiming to make the world safer and more inclusive through teaching young children about the value of safety, both in their future workplaces and in their everyday lives.
The Safety Superhero Academy hopes to inspire Generation Alpha to become more safety-conscious through interactive primary school workshops.
Founder Bethany Holroyd, who is from Morley, has over 14 years of experience in construction. Passionate about maths, science, and design, she decided to impulsively apply to Leeds College of Building as a teenager.
From then, “the rest was history”.
Bethany said: “I’ve really just bought into every aspect of it, even though I was often the only girl in the classroom, even though it was so unfamiliar to me.
“The more I saw, the more it fuelled my passion and interest.”
Noticing a lack of role models in the industry, Bethany decided to lead by example in her career, speaking at conferences and even returning to her old school, Batley Girls’ High School.
In 2020 she took a career sidestep, transitioning from construction into health and safety.
